Dr Tom Pope

Tom currently works as a research entomologist with ADAS at Boxworth in Cambridgeshire. His work focuses on the control of insect pests attacking both agricultural and horticultural crops. A key aspect of his research is to arrive at solutions that are both economically viable for farmers or growers as well as being sustainable in terms of their environmental impact. His main interests are in understanding interactions between plants, herbivorous insects and their natural enemies. In particular, he is interested in how we can exploit these interactions either through the use of insect pheromones or plant volatiles to monitor or control pest species, or through the use of natural enemies in biological control programmes.
